Kevin Abstract, the versatile artist known for his time with the now-disbanded group Brockhampton, has announced his latest project, a mixtape titled “GLUE.” Set for release in late 2024, “GLUE” marks a return to Abstract’s hip-hop roots following his more indie-rock inspired project, “Blanket,” released in 2023.
“GLUE” is expected to feature a blend of collaborations with artists such as Quadeca, Lil Nas X, Ameer Vann, and Lil Yachty, among others. The mixtape’s rollout began with the release of the track “Tennessee” featuring Lil Nas X, which was made available in May 2024. Instead of a traditional full album drop, Abstract has opted for a unique release strategy, introducing tracks one by one leading up to the mixtape’s complete unveiling.
This mixtape is described as an effort to “connect all the eras together,” a concept Abstract hinted at in a now-deleted X post. “GLUE” is anticipated to include fan-favorite unreleased songs like “JEFFERSON” and “DIAMONDZ N CASH,” showcasing Abstract’s knack for storytelling and his evolution as an artist.
The mixtape’s title suggests an intention to bind together the various phases of Abstract’s musical journey, offering listeners both a nostalgic nod to his past work and an exploration of new sounds within the hip-hop genre. With this project, Kevin Abstract continues to push boundaries, promising a collection that is both introspective and expansive.
