Game Changers of the Week
It’s another week of the Game Changers of the Week series, spotlighting African players doing bits in Europe’s major leagues. From goals to match-winning performances, we’ve got you covered on the continent’s finest.
Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon) – Manchester United

Bryan Mbeumo was unstoppable for Manchester United as they secured a third straight league win, defeating Brighton 4–2. The Cameroonian forward was at the heart of United’s attacking play, scoring his side’s third goal in the 61st minute before sealing victory deep into stoppage time with an emphatic left-footed strike. Brighton had threatened a comeback, but Mbeumo’s late finish ended all doubt. He now leads United’s scoring charts this season with four league goals.
André Onana (Cameroon) – Trabzonspor

André Onana was solid between the sticks for Trabzonspor, keeping a clean sheet in their 2–0 win over Eyüpspor. The Cameroonian goalkeeper made four crucial saves, completed 11 of his 16 long passes, and finished with an impressive 86% passing accuracy. It’s his second clean sheet in six Super Lig appearances.
Frank Anguissa (Cameroon) – Napoli
Frank Anguissa delivered a commanding performance as Napoli defeated Inter 3–1. The champions raced to a two-goal lead through a Kevin De Bruyne penalty and a fine Scott McTominay strike. Inter pulled one back via Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s penalty, but Anguissa put the game to bed with a lung-bursting run from midfield before calmly slotting home to secure the win.
Victor Osimhen (Nigeria) – Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen continued his fine form from the midweek Champions League fixture, finding the net in Galatasaray’s 3–1 win over Göztepe. After his side fell behind in the 6th minute, the Nigerian striker stepped up to equalise in the 19th. Galatasaray went on to secure a comfortable victory, maintaining their five-point lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig. For Osimhen, it’s his third league goal and sixth in all competitions this season.
Gift Orban (Nigeria) – Hellas Verona

Gift Orban was on target for Hellas Verona in their 2–2 draw with Cagliari. After Verona took the lead in the first half, the Nigerian forward doubled the advantage just before the hour mark. However, Verona couldn’t hold on, conceding twice in the final 15 minutes. For Orban, it’s his second goal since joining on loan from Hoffenheim.
That’s it for this week’s Game Changers. See you next week.
